Cancer.Net. This Web site features trusted cancer care information from the experts at the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
 
Lance Armstrong Foundation. LAF exists to help all survivors LIVE STRONG through the physical, emotional and practical challenges of survivorship.
 

American Society of Clinical Oncology. With more than 25,000 oncology practitioners as members, ASCO's goals are improving cancer care and prevention and ensuring that all patients with cancer receive care of the highest quality.

 
National Cancer Institute. The NCI was established to be the Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training. This site has a wealth of information on all topics relating to cancer – cancer types, clinical trials, coping with cancer, prevention, support, an extensive library and other educational materials.
 
American Cancer Society. ACS is a nationwide, community-based volunteer health organization that focuses on cancer research, education and advocacy. Site includes consumer information, publications and free materials. In English and Spanish. American Association of Cancer Research. Formed in 1907, AACR is a leading source for scientific advances in the causes, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. Their "Survivors & Advocates" section has information on research findings, support and advocacy groups, clinical trials and biomedical terminology.

 

American Institute for Cancer Research. This non-profit has programs in cancer research and education with focus on the relation of diet and nutrition to the prevention and treatment of cancer.

 

Cancer Consultants. This Oncology Resource Center provides access to the most current information about the prevention, screening, treatment, and overall management of cancer.

 

Caring4Cancer. Caring4Cancer's comprehensive Web site has educational and interactive tools to help understand cancer, manage the details of treatment, track ongoing health, find nutritional support, and create a personal Web page to stay connected to family and friends.

 

National Comprehensive Cancer Network. The NCCN is an alliance of 21 of the world’s leading cancer centers, working together to develop treatment guidelines for most cancers, and dedicated to research that improves the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of cancer care. This site offers information on clinical trials and patient-friendly treatment guidelines to help people with cancer make informed decisions.

 

Oncolink. Created to be user friendly for the general public by the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania, this site has information on specific types of cancer, treatments, nutrition, survivorship and numerous other cancer-related topics. The site is also updated daily with news about research advances.

 

People Living With Cancer. Created by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), this award-winning patient information Web site provides timely, oncologist-approved information on cancer diagnosis, treatment, coping and survivorship to help patients and families make informed health-care decisions. 

 

St. Charles Cancer Services. This site highlights services, information, and support provided by the Cancer Treatment Center of the St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon.

 

Vital Options International. Vital Options advocates and communicates on cancer issues through a variety of audio and video formats, such as "The Group Room", a weekly call-in radio show, and "CancerTalk", a weekly multi-media internet program that combines Internet radio with visual aids. The site also has information on all types of cancer, clinical trials and an area for young adults: www.youngadultswithcancer.org.

 

 

COMPLEMENTARY, ALTERNATIVE and INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

 

National Center for Complementary & Alternative Medicine. CAM is the federal government's lead agency for scientific research on complementary and alternative medicine. This site has the most recent evidence-based information on these options, as well as information on clinical trials and on-going research.

 

M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Complementary/Integrative Medicine Education Resources. The CIMER Web site was created to help patients and physicians decide how best to integrate complementary, alternative and integrative medicine therapies into patient care.

 

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center "About Herbs & Supplements".  This  site provides evidenced-based information about herbs, botanicals, supplements and more.

 

 

SUPPORT SERVICES

- Emotional, Communication, Insurance/Financial -

 

Association of Cancer Online Resources. ACOR is a collection of online communities designed to provide timely and accurate information about cancer in a supportive environment. Mailing lists connect people to share support and information on a wide variety of cancer types and topics.

 

CancerCare. This national nonprofit organization offers free professional support services for anyone affected by cancer – patient, loved one or health care professional. Trained oncology social workers provide online support groups, telephone counseling, information about financial assistance and educational programs.

 

Cancer Hope Network. This national program offers a free, confidential, one-to-one "buddy program" where cancer patients and/or family members are matched with a trained volunteer who has undergone and recovered from a similar experience.

 

Co-Pay Relief Program. The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) Co-Pay Relief Program (CPR) currently provides direct financial support to insured patients, including Medicare Part D beneficiaries, who must financially and medically qualify to access pharmaceutical co-payment assistance. The program offers personal service to all patients through the use of call counselors; personally guiding patients through the enrollment process.

 

Fertile Hope. This national, nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility. It includes a risk calculator, options calculator, financial assistance and survivor stories.

 

Kids Konnected. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping children of parents who have cancer. Services include information, summer camps and an online chat room. Kids can call 24 hours/day, 7 days a week to have questions answered, share concerns or just talk. Medical advice is never given – kids just share similar experiences. Kid’s hotline is 1-800-899-2866.

 

My Medicare Matters. Sponsored by the National Council on Aging, this site helps individuals understand Medicare coverage, including eligibility, prescription drugs, choosing a plan, disease prevention and more.

 

National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. NCCS is the oldest survivor-led cancer advocacy organization in the country, advocating for quality cancer care for all Americans and empowering cancer patients and survivors through information.

 

National Family Caregivers Association. The NFCA supports, empowers, educates and speaks up for the men and women who care for chronically ill, aged or disabled loved ones.

 

Partnership for Prescription Assistance. PPARx brings together America’s pharmaceutical companies, doctors, other health care providers, patient advocacy organizations and community groups to help qualifying patients who lack prescription coverage get the medicines they need through the public or private program that’s right for them.

 

Patient Advocacy Foundation. PAF serves as an active liaison between patients and their insurer, employer and/or creditors to resolve insurance, job retention and/or debt crisis matters relative to their diagnosis through professional case managers, doctors and health care attorneys.
